  3. (fols. 20-7) 'Devonshire House fĂȘte 22 March 1782. Palazzo Courtenay 12 Feb. ditto. Ch[arles] Grevile's house & Ly Home May 1783'
  4. (fols. 28-38) '... Ly Craven's pastoral April 5th 1782' (see MS. Beckford c. 61)
  5. (fols. 39-54) '... Paris in 1784 Ly Lucan & Mde Necker &c.'
  6. (fols. 55-64) 'The Lioness'
  7. (fols. 65-81) 'Mysterious visit - the grim-visaged old man &c.', with (fol. 81v) a pen-and-ink drawing of a single eye.

Many of the wrappers are annotated with the dates of readings by Beckford, e.g. fol. 20 'read to the D[uke of Hamilton] 15 7r 1839', fol. 43 'rd to [Samuel] Rogers 13 March 1840...'. Long extracts are printed in J.W. Oliver, The life of William Beckford (1932), pp. 161-93 passim.
