Comprises: (fols. 1-12) 'A day at Tojal including the Idyllium of Hylas' with (fols. 3-5) an account of a day at Tojal, 4 June 1793 'copied out 12 May 1835' composed probably as part of Recollections of an excursion (1835), but not included in the published version. Also includes (fols. 7-12) fair copy in the hand of an amanuensis of 'Hylas', with (fol. 7) directions to the printer 'print the whole Idyl in italics' (not known to have been printed), and (fol. 10) one alteration by Beckford.

Also includes:

  1. (fols. 13-28) a draft of 'Hist[oire] de Zinan et des 3 montagnes Al Comar, Al Dhebeb & Al Hiat', paper watermarked 1808, enclosed in two wrappers, the first (fol. 13) inscribed 'Les 3 Montagnes. Episode d'un conte non acchevé [sic]. Preface pr. l'edition de Vathek 1815', and the second (fol. 15) inscribed 'Les trois montagnes... rd to Mrs G[ore]-two sundays running 3 & 11 Apr. 1841'
  2. (fols. 30-53) 'Etron-bec', a scatalogical account of the family of Etron-bec, including (fols. 30-3) notes and drafts, paper watermarked 1808 and 1811
  3. (fols. 54-94) rough and fair copies of epitaphs, with many alterations by Beckford (some epitaphs perhaps composed by him), 1822-5, with (fol. 56) a fair copy of the preface, 1822; (fols. 68-94) a copy in sheets of the printed version Epitaphs; some of which have appeared in the Literary Gazette of March & April 1823 [n.p.], 1825, in a wrapper watermarked 1835
