Abstract
Papers of John Blunden relating to the 1972 Pearce Commission on Rhodesian Opinion and the 1980 election.
Biographical / Historical
John Blunden was born in 1922, graduated from Clare College, Cambridge, and undertook military service from 1942 to 1943, serving as a lieutenant. He joined the Colonial Service in 1943 as a cadet in Northern Rhodesia. He became district officer in 1946, a senior district officer in 1962 and assistant secretary in the Zambia Government Service, 1964-1965. In 1972 he was a member of Lord Pearce's Commission on Rhodesian Opinion. He died in 2013.
