Photocopies of articles by Dmitry Svyatopolk, mainly in Russian and English, with some articles about him. Collected by Professor Gerald Smith.
Biographical / Historical
Dmitry Svyatopolk Mirsky (1890-1939) was a Russian scholar who began writing poems and critical articles while at school. From 1921 to 1932 he was lecturer in Russian at the School of Slavonic Studies, King's College, University of London, and during this time published books and articles in English on Russian literature, culture and history. On his return to Russia he worked as a Soviet literary critic until his arrest during the Great Purge. He died in a labour camp in Siberia. See the Dictionary of National Biography.
Arrangement
The papers have been maintained in their original order. Some of the articles are numbered and the numbers are keys to the serial numbers of the relevant items in Nina Lavroukine and Léonid Tchertkov, D.S.Mirsky: Profil critique et bibliographique (Paris: Institut d'Études Slaves, 1980).
