Biographical / Historical
Francis Douce (1757-1834) was an antiquary and art collector. He was the Keeper of Manuscripts at the British Museum, 1807-1811, and a lifelong collector of manuscripts and books relating to English literature. For further details see the Dictionary of National Biography.
