Biographical / Historical
Esmond Samuel de Beer (1895–1990), historian and benefactor, studied history at New College, Oxford. He matriculated in 1914 and after active service in the First World War, he graduated with a wartime degree in 1920. For further details see the Dictionary of National Biography.
