The James P.R. Lyell Readership in Bibliography at the University of Oxford, was established by statute in 1951. A reader is appointed annually to deliver not less than five lectures on one of the following subjects; bibliography, palaeography, typography, book illustration and old bookbinding, and the science of books and manuscripts.
