Typed transcript by Colin Fox, with notes, maps, illustrations and bibliography, of Sir Henry Russell's journal of his voyage from Calcutta to St Helena and on to England in the Country Ship 'Ganges' in 1820-1821. There is a detailed description of St Helena where Sir Henry and his family stayed for ten days in March 1821.

Biographical / Historical

Sir Henry Russell (2nd Baronet) was British Representative at the Court of Hyderabad from 1810 until 1820 when he returned to England with his wife and two children. See The Indian Archives, 8 (1954), 59-66, 135-63.
