Journal of Val Warren, 29 Dec 1919-Dec 1920, describing his voyage to Sierra Leone and his time there as one of ten European police inspectors involved in training. He describes local characters, scenery, places and incidents in great detail and gives his impressions on his first visit to West Africa.

Journal of Val Warren.

Biographical / Historical

Val Warren was a young Metropolitan Police Officer when he was sent to Freetown, Sierra Leone, in 1919 to inspect local police and give instruction in policing.

After retiring from the Metropolitan Police Warren lived in Crieff, Perthshire, and died in circa 1970.
