Thomas McAlindon studied for a PhD under the direction of C.S. Lewis, Jan 1957-Jun 1960, entitled, 'The treatment of the supernatural in Middle English legend and romance, 1200-1400'. He provides a vivid account of his time with him in his memoir, ‘C.S. Lewis Remembered’, published in VII: an Anglo-American Literary Review, 27 (2010). The letters and notes relate to his academic work. Comprises:

Biographical / Historical

C.S. Lewis, author and scholar, was Professor of Medieval and Renaissance English Literature at the University of Cambridge, 1954-1963. During this time Thomas McAlindon was the only post-graduate student he supervised, 'except one who dropped off!'
