Biographical / Historical

Claude Reignier Conder (1848-1910) was a British soldier, explorer and antiquarian.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Passed to Western Manuscripts by the Department of Oriental Collections, 2011.

Existence and Location of Originals

The original letters and sketches were bound into an album, which was given by Conder’s grandson to the National Library of Israel (formerly the Jewish National and University Library), ref: Archives Department V.1209.
