Donald C. Pickering, OBE, worked in Northern Nigeria as an agronomist, 1954-1967, Acting Provincial Agricultural Officer, Zaria, 1955, Divisional Agricultural Officer, Igala, 1955-1956, Divisional Agricultural Officer, Rabba, 1956-1957, Provincial Agricultural Office, Benue Province, 1958, Divisional Agricultural Officer, Igala, 1958-1959, Provincial Agricultural Officer, Benue, 1960-1961, Acting Principal Agricultural Officer, Development, Kaduna, 1961 and Deputy Chief Agricultural Officer (Planning), Northern Nigeria, 1962-1967.

Custodial History

The Food and Cash Crops collection comprises material initially donated to the Oxford Development Records Project, which invited former members of the Colonial Agricultural Service to submit a memorandum dealing with their work in the development of food and cash crops after 1945 in the territories in which they served.
