Biographical / Historical

Mary Marquand was the wife of W.J. Marquand (b 1917), colonial officer and administrator. W.J. Marquand served as District Officer, British Solomon Islands Protectorate from 1946 and High Commissioner, Fiji, 1950-1953. He held the post of Assistant Secretary, Uganda from 1953 and was appointed Senior Assistant Secretary in 1961.

W.J. Marquand sent a typed copy of his wife's reminiscences to the library for photocopying in May 1981.
