Custodial History
The papers were deposited with the Oxford Colonial Records Project by Stephen Howard Powles. The papers came into his possession through a member of his family who had worked in the East India Company and who was caught by the plague in Malta and acted as Secretary to the Medical Committee.

The collection was transferred to the library from the Oxford Colonial Records Project.
