Donald H. Laycock, MBE (fl 1922-1978), worked in Nyasaland as Agricultural Officer from 1945, Tea Research Officer from 1955, Director, Tea Research Stations, 1958-1965; in India as Director, Tea Research, 1965-1971; and as Director, Tea Research Stations of East Africa, 1971-1978.

Custodial History
The Food and Cash Crops collection comprises material initially donated to the Oxford Development Records Project, which invited former members of the Colonial Agricultural Service to submit a memorandum dealing with their work in the development of food and cash crops after 1945 in the territories in which they served.

The papers were donated to the library as part of the collection, Food and Cash Crops in 1984.
