Biographical / Historical
Major-General Robert George Kekewich (1854-1914), CB (1900) entered the Army in 1874. Following involvement in the Ndebele War of 1896, he was made a Lieutenant-Colonel in the Loyal North Lancashires in 1898 and was in charge of the defence of Kimberley, 1899-1900, during the South African War. He was promoted to Major-General in 1902.
