Biographical / Historical

Aline Hucks was the wife of Geoffrey Hucks (whom she married in 1937), administrator in Tanganyika, 1931-1960, and Electoral Commissioner in British Guiana, 1963-1964, and Mauritius, 1966. She worked periodically for the Education Department, and for a brief period was headmistress of an Indian school in Tanganyika.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The letters were donated to the library by Aline Hucks on the 5th March 1985; the diary was loaned to the library on the same date for copying.
