Biographical / Historical

Leonard M. Heaney (b 1906), CMG (1959), was educated at Bristol Grammar School and at Oriel College, Oxford, undertaking military service, 1940-1945 (Major). He began work in the Colonial Service as cadet, Tanganyika, 1929, was made assistant district officer, 1931, district officer, 1941, deputy provincial commissioner, 1948, provincial commissioner, 1951 and senior, 1956. He retired in 1958, was made temporary principal, Colonial Office, 1959 and continued in the Civil Service to [c1964?].
