Biographical / Historical
Paul Duncan Fletcher MBE (fl 1916-1961) worked as Political Officer, Aden Protectorate from 1940, Seconded Education Officer, 1944-1946, and Deputy British Agent, East Aden Protectorate from 1949. In 1950 he took the post of Administrative Officer (Seconded), Nigeria. In 1952 he returned to Aden as Assistant Chief Secretary, and was made Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Northern Nigeria in 1955. He served as Famine Relief Commissioner, East Aden Protectorate from 1949.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The papers were donated to the library on 10th December 1980 by Mary Fletcher, the donor's widow, through the Oxford Development Records Project, which received the papers on 5th December 1980.
