Biographical / Historical
Lewis Wickes Hine (1874-1940) was an American documentary photographer whose work focused on industrial workers including steelworkers in Pittsburgh and child labourers. He was employed by the National Child Labor Committee for ten years from 1908 to document child labour in American factories and mills and his photographs contributed to the passing of the first child labour laws in the USA.
