Biographical / Historical
The British Biophysical Society was founded 'to bring together chemists, physicists and biologists to a joint study of biological systems'. The first committee meeting took place on 21st February 1962 at Kings College, London, with J.T. Randall as Chairman, John Kendrew as Honorary Secretary and D.D. Eley as Meetings Secretary.
The Society organises and sponsors specialist events, holds a major biennial meeting and awards prizes and bursaries to promote biophysics in Britain.
