Biographical / Historical

Léon M. J. Bob Delaissé (1914-1972) was born in Belgium and studied Romance Philology at the Catholic University of Louvain. In 1947 he was appointed librarian of the manuscripts department of the Royal Library in Brussels. He took a particular interest in illuminated manuscripts. In 1956 he was appointed assistant curator of the department of manuscripts.

In 1964, Delaissé moved to Oxford as a Senior Research Fellow at All Souls College.

The slides are arranged by period, geographically and by type of artwork.

Bequeathed to the Oxford University History of Art Department.
