Biographical / Historical
William Reeve Wallace (1873-1966) was educated at St Paul's School and abroad and qualified as a solicitor in 1896, initially working in the Official Solicitors Department. In 1902 he entered the Privy Council Office, serving as Chief Clerk of the Privy Council Office's Judicial Department from 1909 until 1945.
Alfred Denis Godley (1856-1925) was a classical scholar, poet and a tutor and fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford, from 1883 until he retired in 1912. In 1894 he married Amy Cay (1869-1933), daughter of Charles Hope Cay, a fellow of Govnille and Caius College, Cambridge. Further information is given in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.
