Abstract

Diaries, letter and photographic portrait of Viscountess (Beatrice) Dorothy Addison (1896-1982), Viscount Addison's second wife, 1937-1951.

Biographical / Historical

(Beatrice) Dorothy Addison was born in 1896, the daughter of a solicitor (Frederick) Percy Low. In 1937, she became the second wife of Christopher Addison, 1st Viscount Addison (1869-1951), whose biographical details can be found in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.

Custodial History

The donor, Doreen Joel was given Lady Addison's papers by the latter's sister, Miss Rosemary Low.
