Biographical / Historical

Thomas R. Baldwin (b 1947) is a philosopher of language and mind. Ian M. Hacking (1936-2023) was a philosopher of science. Barbara Jane Heal (b 1946) is a philosopher of language and mind.

Saul Kripke (1940-2022) was an American philosopher. In 1962 he gained a B.S. in Mathematics from Harvard University, where he became and remained a lecturer until 1968. Kripke taught logic and philosophy at Rockefeller University from 1968 to 1976 and at Princeton University from 1976 until his retirement in 1998. In 2001 he was awarded the Rolf Schock Prize in logic and philosophy by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.

Kripke made a significant contribution to several fields related to mathematical and modal logic, philosophy of language and mathematics, metaphysics, epistemology, and recursion theory. Further details of his life and work can be found in the Encyclopedia Britannica.
