Abstract

Biographical / Historical
Sir Roy Strong (b.1935) is an English art historian, museum curator, writer, diarist, broadcaster and garden designer. He joined the National Portrait Gallery as an assistant keeper in 1959 and became its director in 1967. In 1973 he moved to the Victoria and Albert Museum as director, where he served until 1987. He then worked as a garden and landscape consultant, broadcaster, lecturer and writer.
Dr Richard Barber (b.1941) is a historian who has published on medieval history and literature. He founded Boydell Press in 1969 which became Boydell & Brewer in 1978.
