Architectural model created in 2024 by Factum Arte in collaboration with Ricardo Bofill Taller de Arquitectura (RBTA) based on the 'Castillo de Kafka' designed by the Catalan architect Ricardo Bofill (completed 1968) near Barcelona. Plastic (3D printed). Measures 310 x 1150 x 725mm (h x w x d).

Abstract

Biographical / Historical

Franz Kafka was born on 3 July 1883 into a German-speaking, Jewish family in Prague in the then Austro-Hungarian Empire. He studied at the Charles University in Prague, graduating in 1906 with a doctorate in law. He spent most of his legal career in the Workers' Accident Insurance Institute from which he retired early on health grounds. He died of tuberculosis on 3 July 1924 at the age of 41.

Factum Arte is an interdisciplinary studio currently based in Madrid comprising artists, technicians and conservators dedicated to digital mediation.
