Langford Reed, My Limerick Book with illustrations by Joyce Dennys (Thomas Nelson and Sons Ltd, London, 1937, first edition) with inscription and original poem to his wife Hetty, Christmas 1937. With some [authorial] pencil and ink annotations in main text. Also includes:

  1. Letters sent to Reed from children requesting their own personal limerick as per token on dust-jacket, with some copies of replies, 1938-1943, n.d.
  2. Press cutting review of My Limerick Book from Books of Today, Jan 1938 and The Indiscreet Limerick Book from Yorkshire Evening News, Aug 1928.

Biographical / Historical

(Herbert) Langford Reed (1878-1954) was a British author, scriptwriter, director and actor. He wrote and collected limericks. He married Henrietta ('Hetty') Elizabeth Spiers (1881-1973), a costume designer, in 1912.
