Abstract

Certificate awarded to Henry Joseph Shuffrey.

Biographical / Historical

Henry Joseph Shuffrey was born in 1848 and brought up at Long Hanborough Manor near Oxford. In 1858 he obtained a choral scholarship at Christ Church Cathedral and in 1863 joined the Bodleian Library as an assistant. He remained at the Bodleian until 1920, chiefly working on the General Catalogue of Printed Books.
