Nikolaas (Niko) Tinbergen (1907-1988) was an authority on animal behaviour who pioneered the modern discipline of ethology, working at the University of Oxford from 1949 to 1974. For further details see the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.
Esther Cullen was an animal behaviourist who worked at the University of Oxford with Tinbergen from the 1950s.
