Abstract

Biographical / Historical
George Ilsley Charlton Ingram was born in India in 1919, read medicine at Trinity College, Cambridge, and studied clinical medicine at St Thomas' Hospital, London. Researching thrombosis at Edinburgh University under Sir James Learmouth his work led to the development of drugs to treat haemophilia and a career in haematology. He was professor of experimental haematology at London University from 1972 until retirement in 1979 and died in 2004.

Donated by G.I.C. Ingram to the Wellcome Unit for the History of Medicine, Oxford, in 2000.
