Photographs of Eritrea and Ethiopia
Photographs of Eritea and Ethiopia (with one of the British landing in Ismailia, Egypt, in 1882) collected by Martin Plaut showing buildings, landscapes, named individuals, the conflicts of the 1930s-1940s and the liberation struggles of the 1960s-1980s. The majority of the photographs have captions on the verso. Some were taken by professional photographers and photo agencies and used in newspapers while others are unidentified.
- File 1: 19th century-1920s, including panorama view of Asmara and portrait of Dejaz Alamaieo, son of the late King Theodore of Ethiopia.
- File 2:1930s, predominantly depicting the Italo-Ethiopian War of 1935-1937.
- File 3: 1940s, including World War II.
- File 4: 1950s-1990, including Eritrean Liberation Front forces in the 1970s.
