Biographical / Historical

Robert Jemmett Stopford (1895-1978), author of two letters, was Private Secretary to Sir John Simon as Chairman of the Indian Statutory Commission, and Secretary to Conservative Delegation to 1st and 2nd Sessions of Round Table Conference 1930-1931. His first cousin was Sir George Young (1872-1952); he was also related to Alice Stopford Green (1847-1929).
