The earliest is from Clara Schumann, a composer and pianist, wife of Robert Schumann (1888); two others are from Fanny Davies, a pianist (1901, 1902); and one from Donald Tovey, a musicologist, composer and pianist (n.d.).

Clara Sophie Deneke (née Overweg, 1847-1933) was an author. Her daughters were Helena (1878–1973), German scholar and suffragette, and Marga (1882-1969), author and musicologist.
