Additional papers of Adam Fox
Biographical / Historical
Adam Fox and his twin sister, Eve, were born on 15 July 1883. He was educated at Winchester College and University College, Oxford, graduating in 1906. In the same year he became assistant master at Lancing College, West Sussex and took Holy Orders in 1911. He was Warden of Radley College, Oxfordshire, 1918-1924, and assistant master at Bishops Diocesan College, Rondebosch in South Africa, 1925-1929. He returned to Oxford in 1929 as a Fellow of Magdalen College, and was elected Professor of Poetry at Oxford in 1938: a position he held for five years. He was a Canon of Westminster, 1942-1963. He did not marry and died 17 January 1977.
