Abstract

Letters to Edgar Lobel and Mary Lobel.

Biographical / Historical

Edgar Lobel (1888-1982) was a Greek scholar and a sub-librarian at the Bodleian Library, 1919-1934. Mary Lobel (1900–1993), née Rogers, was an historian and editor. The Lobels were married in 1927.

Sir Arthur Ernest Cowley (1861–1931) was an orientalist and librarian. He was Bodley's Librarian, 1919-1931.

George Gilbert Aimé Murray (1866-1957) was a classicist and internationalist. He was Regius Professor of Greek at Oxford.

Rudolf Carl Franz Otto Pfeiffer (1889–1979) was a classical scholar.
