Biographical / Historical
Ralph Griffiths (1720?–1803), was a journal editor and bookseller. He was a founder of the periodical Monthly Review which first appeared in 1749. For further details see the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
These volumes were bought at a sale at Evans's in London on Jan. 20, 1838, for £11 11s. (lot 1022), at the same time as the Library purchased the editor's copy of the Review from 1749 to 1828, for £42.
