Abstract

Minute books of the Ralegh Club, 1913-1971.

Biographical / Historical

The Ralegh Club, named after Sir Walter Ralegh, was founded at the University of Oxford in 1913 to discuss the politics of the British Empire and later of the Commonwealth. It held regular meetings during University terms and was addressed by eminent speakers including T.E. Lawrence and M.K. Gandhi. Its activities were suspended during the two world wars and it appears to have wound up in the late 1970s.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Deposited by Kenneth Kirkwood on behalf of the Ralegh Club in 1979.
