Two letters comprising:

  1. Fols. 1-2: Copy of request, 3 June 1849, from the British consul, John Freeborn, for protection for himself and for the English diplomat William Petre during the siege of Rome. On headed notepaper of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Roman Republic.
  2. Fols. 3-4: Request from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Roman Republic, 3 June 1849, to Citizen Sturbinetti, Lieutenant General Commander of the National Guard, to dispatch some of the National Guard to provide defence as requested by the British consul.
