Two letters to Christopher Bethell Codrington comprising:
- Folios 1-2: from William Collins in Barbuda, 1 May 1797, reporting on how the lack of rain has adversely affected the stock and crops; that 'the Enemy have not disturbed us' as frigates in the channel have protected vessels; and that the enslaved people continue 'to behave well, they are very healthy'. Enclosing (fols. 3-4) a daily account of work carried out on the island during the months of February, March and April 1797.
- Folios 5-6: letter from John Winter on Barbuda, 2 Aug 1833, concerning the impending emancipation of those enslaved on the estates following the vote in the British Parliament.
