Abstract
Illustrated watercolour and ink albums by G. Herbert Jalland entitled 'A Season with the Southwold [Hunt] 1887-88' (2 volumes), 1888-1920.
Biographical / Historical
George Herbert Jalland (1863-1911) was an illustrator known for his contributions to Punch magazine. He was born in Horncastle in Lincolnshire.
Custodial History
Jalland once borrowed a horse from Charles Reginald Blathwayt but, due to an accident which occurred to the horse whilst in Jalland's care, it had to be put down. Jalland was upset and consequently gave Blathwayt these two volumes.
