Abstract
James Cawthorn (1929-2008) was an illustrator, critic and author.
Biographical / Historical
James 'Jim' Cawthorn (1929-2008) was an illustrator, critic and author whose work appeared in numerous publications including Look and Learn, New Worlds and Speed & Power. He is probably best known for his collaborations with Michael Moorcock, which included providing cover illustrations for Stormbringer (1965), The Jewel in the Skull (1973), The Mad God's Amulet (1973), The Sword of the Dawn (1973) and The Runestaff (1974). He also worked with Moorcock on the screenplay for the film The Land that Time Forgot (1975) and on the book Fantasy: The 100 Best Books (1988). Cawthorn's own graphic novels include The Jewel in the Skull (1978) and The Crystal and the Amulet (1986), both adaptations of stories by Moorcock.
