Abstract

William Henry Fox Talbot's "Neapolitan Conveyance", salt print copy of a painting, possibly by Goya.

Biographical / Historical

William Henry Fox Talbot (1800-1877) began experimenting with photography in 1834, having first been inspired during a visit to Lake Como the previous year. Talbot announced his 'photogenic drawing' process in a paper to the Royal Society in 1839. See the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography for a full biography.
