Biographical / Historical

Winifred Mary Letts (1882-1972) was born in Salford, England but spent most of her life in Ireland. She was a nurse with the Voluntary Aid Detachment in England during the First World War. She wrote plays, novels, poetry and children's books.

Bibliography

This poem was published in W.M. Letts, Hallow-e’en and poems of the war (London, 1916), 7-8. It was re-published the following year in The Spires of Oxford, and Other Poems (1917).
