Abstract

Correspondence and papers of Sir David John Weatherall (1933-2018), physician, Regius Professor of Medicine.

Biographical / Historical

Sir David John Weatherall (1933-2018) was a physician and researcher in molecular genetics, haematology, pathology and clinical medicine. He held the positions of Nuffield Professor of Clinical Medicine (1974-1992) and Regius Professor of Medicine (1992-2000) at the University of Oxford before retiring in 2000. In 1989 he founded the Insititute of Molecular Medicine, later named the Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine in his honour upon retirement.
