The diary was used first by Marianne Naish (fols. 1-22); see inscription (fol. 1) 'Marianne Naish 21st July 1848'. It was later reversed and used by Minnie Naish; see inscription (fol. 70v) 'Minnie Naish November 1864'. It contains descriptions of the following trips:
- (fols. 2-22) Tenby in Pembrokeshire, Jul-Aug 1848
- (fols. 70v-52v rev.) Teignmouth in Devon, Nov 1864
- (fols. 52-25v rev.) Wales and Ireland, Sep-Oct 1865
- (fols. 25v-18 rev.) South Wales, Jul 1867.
