Mainly relating to the compilation of a dictionary of Old and Middle English, which, according to the Dictionary of National Biography, was abandoned because of Joseph Bosworth's rival Anglo-Saxon Dictionary (1838). Some of the slip indexes for the dictionary are written on the reverse of torn scraps of Singer's official correspondence of the 1830s as Honorary Secretary of the Travellers' Club.
