Abstract
A draft of Max Beerbohm’s account of his first meetings with H.B. Irving, elder son of Sir Henry Irving, together with two colotype prints of Beerbohm cartoons depicting H.B. Irving.
Biographical / Historical
Max Beerbohm (1872-1956) was a writer, caricaturist, drama critic and broadcaster. Educated in Classics at Oxford, he later received an honorary degree from his alma mater and honorary fellowship from his college Merton. He became one of England's foremost essayists as well as a widely published and exhibited caricaturist. He was knighted in 1939.
