The wrappers are addressed to Hawkins, fols. 293, 295 and 303. The manuscript contains some dated entries, 1806-1816, many anecdotes of contemporaries, especially Francis Douce (fols. 1v, 10v, 20, 52, 75-76, 152, 177v-178, 186-187, 208-210, 224, 232-234?, 249-250, 280), Joseph Edwards, bookseller, and James Northcote, with classical and antiquarian notes, extracts from printed works, some sketches, and (fols. 290-291) a letter to Hawkins from Thomas Phillips (1760-1851), 1802?, and (fol. 301) a draft of a reply.
