  1. ‘Brief details of visit by Jim Howard to Kampuchea and Vietnam, 24th August-7th September, 1979’ and related papers, sent to Peter Davis by Paul Sherlock, formerly of Oxfam Humanitarian Department. The related papers (which are not in the Oxfam archive) include information from UNICEF about Kampuchean government representatives, a list of possible purchases for the emergency response, and information about transport links and air cargo.

Abstract

Biographical / Historical

Peter Davis (1945-2021) was educated at Farnham Grammar School and North-Western Polytechnic, trained to be a teacher and taught for several years in London and Wiltshire. In 1976 he joined Oxfam's Education Department as an Education Officer and came to establish and manage Oxfam's development education grants programme. He travelled to many countries in the course of his work including Bolivia, Cambodia, Israel and India and retired from Oxfam in 2009, from the post of International Coordiator For Youth and Education.
